One reason I’m doing this webcomic, other than telling a story that’s been rattling around in my head for a few years, is to have a project that will force me to become a better all-around artist.

It’s really easy in comics to get focused on being the penciler…or the inker…or the colorist…or the…whatever. And each of those disciplines definitely requires a special focus to get good at any one of them (it took me FOREVER to learn to ink, and I ultimately picked it up by working in a studio with inkers for 5 years.) But I really wanted a good project that would allow each of those disciplines to mingle together and start to form some sort of cohesive whole. That’s why my posts about the process of cobbling together a page show slightly different methods. I’m still playing.

I hope  as a reader goes through the story, the progression is natural enough that as the story evolves so does the art…just slightly and steadily enough that it’s not really noticeable unless you jump from the end (which is a ways off) back to the beginning.  If I do it right, the story will carry the you through the subtly changing currents of the art.

If the book is ever physically published, I’ll go back and tweak some panels that still bug me.  Though that’s not even above the horizon yet.

In the meantime, thanks for reading. Help spread the word around the interwebs.
