Well, I know I said I would probably ink by hand even after getting the Cintiq. But I just couldn’t resist inking in Manga Studio. I still colored it in Photoshop as usual. Not sure what I think, but I guess if I hadn’t pointed it out it might not be a distracting change.
I think I might have been a bit slower inking on the tablet, being at the wrong end of the learning curve. But over time, it might be a time saver and let me get pages out more quickly.
Thoughts?
I think it looks great.
Can’t ask for better than that. 🙂
I agree that it looks great. People get engrossed in the story and invested in the characters. Once that happens (which, for your comic, takes about two pages, maybe less), they will forgive even major changes in style. (Look at the first pages of Gunnerkrigg Court vs current pages for an example.) If the change in style is minor and will eventually lead to faster updates, so much the better.
I speak as an authority on this due to my thousands of hours reading webcomics :).
I’m hoping people are invested in the story and forgive art tweaks. I’m sure the characters designs will be refined subtly as I go along (they already have, actually, but I don’t think page to page you really notice unless you go all the way from latest page to the first.)
msouth said exactly what I was thinking! Keep up the good work.
